Brakes

A three brake disc system is used in the 2009 Surrey vehicle.  The design focuses on ergonomics and mass.  Two major aerospace materials were used for the pedal box, aluminium 7075-T651 and carbon fibre.  The shape of the pedals is determined by how the driver operates them and the mounting location. Detailed FEA was performed on the pedal box. This was used to optimise the design for minimum weight through stress analysis and minimising deflections.
